the art of AIDS
About this website
This website contains a brief history of cultural responses to HIV/AIDS and findings from the project. It also contains papers, photographs and programs from the project-related conferences, and some of the publications resulting from the project. In addition, you'll find biographies of artists who have addressed AIDS-related themes and complete transcripts of interviews with them. You can access this information by clicking on the links above or the website's menu.
Most of the images on this website are displayed in slideshows. Information about the images (artist, medium, date of production etc.) can be accessed by clicking on them and then allowing the cursor to hover over the enlarged image.
The Art of AIDS Prevention project has received generous support from the Australian Research Council, Visual AIDS, The University of Adelaide, Monash University and the Ian Potter Foundation. Paul Sendziuk is responsible for the website's content. A number of postgraduate students, particularly Clare Parker, Joshua Forkert and Katrina Stats, helped to transcribe the oral histories and draft some of the artist introductions that appear on this website.
